The fourth edition of the Guwahati Theatre Festival is going to start from Friday at Pragjyoti ITA Center, Machkhowa of the city.
The three-day festival will continue till December 8.
G Plus, an English weekly, who is the festival's organizer, strives to highlight professional entertainment events of world class.
The festival puts together well-known plays such as Patte Khul Gaye, The Davil Wears Bata and Kusoor, The Mistake from the house of nationally acclaimed production groups.
Patte Khul Gaye, the opening play, is a Hindi comedy directed by Rakesh Bedi, a veteran theater actor.
It's a funny portrayal of our society's hypocrisy.
The play tells the story of Manoj Rai and his wife Manju Rai, who invited for dinner a group of friends.
Packed with funny situations and laughter, for comedy lovers, Patte Khul Gaye is a must-watch.
Rakesh Bedi, Kishwer Merchant, Anant Mahadevan, Avijit Dutt & Rupali Ganguly are among the popular cast of the hilarious play.
This festival, along with the plays, also promises to provide the local youth with learning opportunities through the December 6 workshop with Rakesh Bedi.
“The idea behind Guwahati Theatre Festival is to reach out to wider audiences and help shed the notion that theatre-going is an activity restricted only to a certain section of people,” Sunit Jain, festival chairman, said.
“While we are launching with theatre, we hope to highlight the importance of theatres and plays in the region and promote the culture of appreciating various forms of performing arts,” Jain said.
