Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) activists from Thursday morning protested against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) by staging national highway and railway blockade.
INPT supporters and staff have been gathering in the Khamting Bari region of the Baromura hill range since Wednesday night.
They blocked the national highway in the Khamting Bari region from Thursday morning. The railway tracks were also halted by the supporters later.
INPT backers were seated with flags and banners on the railroad tracks.
INPT is Tripura's indigenous tribal party and one of the Northeast's oldest regional parties.
In view of the 12-hour blockade called by INPT in protest against CAB, safety has been improved along national highways and railways.
The blockade started in the morning at 6 a.m. and all trains were canceled in the morning.
