A banker was shot dead and Rs 1.15 crore plundered in Manipur"s Churachandpur region on Friday, police said.
Arambam Ranjan Meitei (37), a worker of the State Bank of India (SBI), was en route to stack money in 16 ATMs when the episode occurred outside the bank"s Churachandpur primary branch around 11 am, they said.
The armed men, who are yet to be distinguished, shot him from short proximity, grabbed the cash and fled from the spot, police said.
Meitei, an occupant of Zoveng Khuga Tampak, was first taken to the Churachandpur District Hospital and from that point, he was moved to the Shija Hospital in Imphal toward the evening for better treatment, they said.
He capitulated to the wounds a couple of hours after the fact, a representative of the Shija Hospital told PTI.
