On Tuesday, the Assam government changed the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) with a few modifications and relaxations in place.
The situation of COVID-19 in the state has been reviewed, and it has been discovered that, while the positivity rate has improved in a few districts, it remains high in Golaghat and Lakhimpur districts; whereas, Jorhat, Sonitpur, and Biswanath districts have shown improvement in terms of caseload and positivity rate after being under total containment for over a week. These five districts, according to the revised SOP, are among those with a moderate positive rate/caseload. In light of this, the government has imposed a curfew from 2 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Workplaces and commercial businesses will be able to stay open until 1 p.m. Government offices, private offices and institutions, dine-in restaurants, dhabas, food takeaway restaurants, other eateries, sales counters, showrooms, cold storage, and warehouses will all be open until 1 p.m.
Shops selling foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk stalls, and animal fodder, on the other hand, can stay open until 5 p.m.
