Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) held onto smuggled wood worth Rs 1.58 crore close to Heirok town in Manipur's Thoubal locale on Wednesday.
Given solid contributions about the smuggling of wood, troops of Assam Rifles completed the activity and caught two vehicles stacked with wood, said the authority.
On careful checking of the vehicles, the group recuperated pirated timber surveyed to be worth over a crore, he said.
The held onto things alongside captured people have been given over to the Forest Range Office in Thoubal for additional lawful activity, he added.
