Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said the Assam Rifles bases in Aizawl would be moved to the edges of the city soon.
Base Shift to Zokhawsang:
During a mission for Aizawl Municipal Corporation surveys at Ramhlun in Aizawl on Thursday, Zoramthanga said Assam Rifles authority has been approached to migrate their bases from the core of Aizawl to Zokhawsang, around 15 km from the state capital inside February.
"Authorities of Assam Rifles are likewise ready to move their brigade central command to Zokhawsang and they are planning for it," he said, adding that some of them have just moved to Zokhawsang.
He said any remaining powers, which have involved the state's property, would likewise be moved to different spots.
The CM said he moved toward both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah over the issue.
Bases in the State:
There are three Assam Rifles contingents in Mizoram.
First Assam Rifles is situated in Lunglei, eighth in Serchhip and 46 Assam Rifles in Aizawl's Zodin and Khatla territories.
On February 19, 2019, the Union home ministry directed Assam Rifles to move their bases from Aizawl to Zokhawsang.
