Consumption of Pan Masala Banned in Assam

Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam has stretched out by one year the preclusion request against the production, stockpiling, transportation, show, appropriation or offer of gutka,pan masala or any biting materials and so on, containing tobacco or potentially nicotine as fixings. 

 

Law Passed:

 

The order has been effected under Regulation 2.3.4. of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011 read with Section 26 of the Food Safety and Standards Acts, 2006, for one year more. 

 

The Commissioner of Food Safety, Assam gave a Notification Vide No.FSC.12/2013/979 dated Guwahati the 22nd November 2019 and precluded the production, stockpiling, transportation, show, conveyance or offer of Gutka, Pan Masala or any biting materials and so on containing tobacco as well as nicotine.

In the present Covid-19 scourge circumstance, utilization of tobacco items is truly exhorted against by WHO, ICMR, and the Govt. of India.
