Educational Institutions to Remain Closed Till 3rd Week of May in Sikkim

The Sikkim government in an order said all educational institutions in Sikkim, including government, government-aided and personal, would remain closed from April 12-20, 2021.

 

In this regard, an order was issued by GP Upadhyaya, Additional Chief Secretary to the Department of Education of Sikkim, on Sunday.

 

The order said: “All officers and employees of all categories including teaching and non-teaching personnel working in government, government-aided and personal educational institutions in Sikkim, who are 45 years and above in age shall compulsorily vaccinate themselves against Covid-19.”

To achieve this vaccination for such officers and employees, the department of education decided to shut the tutorial institutions.

 

The order said, “all activities associated with the CBSE examinations slated during this era shall be haunted after April 20, 2021, as per the convenience of the CBSE Centre Superintendents”.

 

However, the web mode of education shall continue during this era, the order said.

 

Meanwhile, Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang took his first dose of the Covid19 vaccine at STNM Hospital on Sunday.

 

His wife, Krishna Rai, ministers and other officers were also administered the Covid19 vaccine.

 

The Sikkim chief minister has appealed to the people of Sikkim to hitch the Tika Utsav (festival of vaccine).

 

On Sunday, Sikkim registered 54 new Covid19 cases while one person recovered from the disease.

 

With the new cases, Sikkim’s total Covid19 positive tally reached 6,405 on Sunday.

 

Sikkim currently features a total of 169 active Covid19 cases.
