Four days after BJP minister Sum Ronghang joined the Congress after denied a ticket, the resistance on Thursday designated him to challenge the impending Assam Assembly surveys from his Diphu constituency.
All India Congress Committee General Secretary Mukul Wasnik gave the fourth rundown for Assam containing two names, including Ronghang for the Diphu seat in the Karbi Anglong area.
The other applicant is Raton Engti for the Bokajan supporters in a similar locale.
No Ticket from BJP:
Troubled over the refusal of ticket, Ronghang, holding the arrangement of Hill Areas Development and Mines and Minerals, on Sunday joined the Congress.
Ronghang is at present a BJP MLA from the Diphu electorate, which will go on polls in the second stage on April 1.
On Wednesday night, AICC delivered names for 26 supporters that are going to the polls during the subsequent stage.
The opposition party has named 71 competitors out of 86 constituencies in the first and second period of polls.
Alliance of Congress:
The Congress, which was in power for a very long time in Assam since 2001, has shaped a Grand Alliance with AIUDF, Bodoland People's Front (BPF), CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML), Anchalik Gana Morcha (AGM) and RJD to battle the impending Assembly political decision against the BJP-drove NDA.
