The image of a "ship" has been allocated to the recently framed Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) for the three-stage elections in Assam.
Tending to a public interview here, AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi said the Election Commission of India (ECI) apportioned the party symbol to the provincial party on Saturday.
"We will battle the surveys with the symbol of a ship. The ship means our economy, culture, civilisation and exchange along the Brahmaputra. The ship will permit us to continue unitedly in Assam," he said.
The AJP was framed by the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) a year ago.
The AJP has framed a local coalition with Raijor Dal shaped by the imprisoned enemy of CAA pioneer Akhil Gogoi's Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and 70 associations.
Of the absolute 126 seats in Assam Assembly, races to 47, generally in upper Assam, will be hung on March 27, while 39 in Barak Valley and central Assam will go to surveys on April 1 and casting a ballot in the excess 40 seats in lower Assam will be hung on April 6.
