Mantu Dutta, an activist from Assam who had once organized bare dissent against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, is back in action. Also, this time, he requested for 'freedom' of Assam. 

 

Clad in conventional dhoti and Assamese gamosa around his neck, 45-year-old Dutta was seen remaining before the workplace of the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat on Tuesday, holding a notice. 

 

The words on Mantu Dutta's notice started with Joi Aai Axom (Long Live Mother Assam).

"Since Assam is definitely not a constituent province of India, so please award freedom to Assam," the notice in Assamese read. 

 

Mantu Dutta, who is known for his protests in Upper Assam, was seen remaining before the Deputy Commissioner's office for almost two hours on Tuesday. 

 

Despite the fact that he requested 'autonomy' of Assam, neither the police nor the locale organization gave any consideration to the individual dissent. 

 

Dutta who hails from Rajabari territory in Jorhat said he was arranging the dissent in his individual limit, and he didn't speak to any ideological group or association.

On January 11, a year ago, Mantu Dutta had organized a bare dissent before the workplace of the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. He had additionally requested 'dissidence charges' be slapped against researcher Hiren Gohain.
