Kamrup District of Assam exports 2.5 MT of pineapples to the state of Telengana

The Kamrup district of Assam today exported 2.5 MT of pineapple to Telengana, marking a significant achievement for the state's pineapple producers.

The export was made possible through the Assam Agri-Business and Rural Transformation Project's programme (APART).

It should be emphasised that the agriculture sector had tremendous growth in terms of production and export in the previous fiscal year.

Assam shipped 50 metric tonnes of maize to Bangladesh on August 3rd. Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora today ceremonially sent off the first ever maize cargo to Bangladesh, marking a significant step toward improving farmer sustainability in the state.

Minister Bora stated that this is a significant milestone in Assam's agriculture industry. He credited the farmers, stating that it was the hard work of the farmers that had resulted in a significant increase in maize production in the state. In the last five years, Assam's maize production has climbed by 47 percent, according to him.

The North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited took the lead in exporting maize to Bangladesh (NERAMAC).

Minister Bora praised NERAMAC MD Shri Manoj Kumar Das, as well as Assam Horticulture Director Triranga Bharatiya Borah, NEDFi MD & Chairman PVSLN Murty, NEHHDC MD R. K. Singh, AIDC Vice Chairman Jitu Talukdar, and other prominent Assam government officials, for their hard work and dedication.

A batch of 'Raja Mircha,' also known as king chilli, from Nagaland was air-exported to London for the first time in July, boosting exports of Geographical Indications (GI) items from the north-eastern area.
