Sources in the Ministry of Food Processing revealed to Northeast Now that the Mega Food Park venture for Meghalaya has been affirmed by the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC). 

 

Of the Rs 65.26 crore Mega Food Park venture, the Ministry of Food Processing would broaden an award of Rs 48.43 crore, and the leftover sum will be assembled by the state government.

 

The Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting which gave the green sign to the Meghalaya Mega Food Park venture on Tuesday, was led by the association Food Processing minister Narendra Singh Tomar. 

 

Rameswar Teli, union minister of state for Food Processing Ministry on December 6 a year ago had declared about the proposition of setting up a Mega Food Park in Meghalaya while he was talking at the North East Food Innovation Exhibition. 

 

The IMAC's endorsement has now taken the fantasy about setting up of the Mega Food Park in Meghalaya one stage forward. 

 

The Food Processing Ministry has a yearly financial plan of Rs 8,000 crore, of which, 10% is required for usage in the eight upper east states. 

 

Under the Mega Food Park venture, the Ministry of Food handling would reach out around 75 per cent appropriation, and the excess 25 per cent sum will be borne by the Meghalaya government. 

 

Teli had declared that for the year 2020, the Ministry of Food Processing has a spending plan of Rs 1,100 crore for the northeastern locale, and he was attempting to set up Food Parks in all the eight states.
