Mizoram to get Connected by Railways by 2023

By March 2023, Aizawl will be connected to India's rail line framework, making Mizoram the fourth of the eight north-eastern States to get rail line availability. 


Project by NFR:


An assertion gave by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said Rs 1,000-crore has been apportioned for 2021-22 monetary to be spent on the Bairabi-Sairang rail route project that the Railway Ministry needs to be finished inside the following two years. State capital Aizawl is 18 km uphill from Sairang. 


The distance between Bairabi, a railhead in Mizoram's Kolasib area near the line with Assam, and Sairang uphill is around 51 km.

"The Bairabi-Sairang project was authorized in 2008-09. The foreseen cost of the 51.38 km project is about ₹5521.45-crore. Till a year ago, ₹3763.6 crores has been spent on the venture," an NFR explanation said. 


Different Extensions:


"There will be 55 significant and 87 minor extensions in the whole venture. It will likewise have five roads overextensions and six roads under scaffolds. There will be a few passages with a complete length of 12,639.20 meters," the assertion added. 


North east Frontier Railway has been chipping away at a task to connect all State capitals in the district. Up until this point, the capitals of three north-eastern States have a railroad network. These are Dispur (Assam), Agartala (Tripura) and Itanagar (Arunachal).
