Nagaland hammered Sikkim by 100 runs to register their second successive win in the Plate group match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2020-21 in Chennai on Friday.
Led by half-centuries from Jonathan Rongsen (56) and SS Mundhe (54), Nagaland scored a competitive 176 for 4 in the allotted overs after being put in to bat. Stuart Binny and Hokaito Zhimomi also contributed 30 and 21 runs respectively.
For Sikkim, Ajay took three wickets.
Chasing the target, Sikkim was bowled out for 76 runs in 14.2 overs with tight bowling from Nagaland bowlers led by Khrievitso Kense, who took three wickets. Stuart Binny, Nagaho Chishi, SS Mundhe, Tahmeed, and Joshua took one wicket each.
Anureet Singh was the highest scorer for Sikkim, who made 41 runs. Nagaland will next play Mizoram on January 17.
Earlier, Nagaland thrashed Arunachal by nine wickets in the second match of the tournament after the match against Chandigarh was abandoned due to bad weather.
Results of Plate group (Chennai): Meghalaya 89/9 in 20 overs (Anuj Raj 3/15) lost to Bihar 92/4 in 16 overs (Shasheem Rathour 33, Sakibul Gani 31 n.o.).
Chandigarh 200/3 in 20 overs (Manan Vohra 85, Shivam Bhambri 62, Ankit Kaushik 36 n.o.) beat Mizoram 111/6 in 20 overs (Gaurav Gambhir 3/11).
Manipur 149/8 in 20 overs (Akhilesh Sahani 3/30, Techi Doria 3/29) beat Arunachal Pradesh 104 in 19.4 overs.
