As the cold wave continued to strengthen its hold on North India, Nagaland people rejoiced after many years of receiving an unexpected gift from nature.
For the first time in several years, Nagaland has recorded snowfall.
Today, social media is filled with pictures and videos of the rare phenomenon and all the images are viral at the moment.
Snowfall took place in the districts of Tuensang, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Phek, Kohima, and Peren, the Indian Express notes.
At some places in the area, the temperature dropped below 5 degrees Celsius.
In Kohima, this year's lowest temperature was 3 degrees Celsius.
Nagaland has never reported snowfall since an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) center was established in the state, according to a study by The Indian Express.
Taking to Twitter, H. Khehovi, MLA from Suruhoto Constituency in the Zunheboto district of Nagaland shared a snowfall receiving video from the Luvishe Village. According to him, after 37 years the district got snowfall.
