The Meghalaya government has consented to the development of an alternative highway from Shillong to Guwahati using Mairang-Rani-Azara street. This road has been called an alternative road to the air terminal from the Meghalaya.
A measure of Rs 196 crore has been endorsed by the government for the development of the 79 KM highway. On February 24, Meghalaya Legislative Chief Metbah Lyngdoh established the framework stone for the equivalent.
The road is set to be finished in the forthcoming two years. Prior in 2018, Gauhati West MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita had sent a letter over the broadening of the way to the Meghalaya government.
