Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's sentiment with Shillong is ready to be propagated through the setting up of Tagore Cultural Complex at Brookside cottage at Rilbong where the state Legislative Assembly is incidentally housed.
A proposition in such a manner has been presented by the state government and the Center's endorsement is anticipated.
Illuminating this Commissioner and Secretary responsible for Art and Culture Department, FR Kharkongor said here today that the social complex will be set up under the Tagore Cultural Complex Scheme at the charming Brookside lodge where Tagore had remained during his maiden visit to Shillong in 1919.
"It will be a multi-useful vacationer space, vacation destination and furthermore like each spot commends the tradition of a celebrated man – Tagore – who is Asia's first Nobel laureate and he had gone to the slopes, talks about mankind, solidarity and numerous viewpoints which can be drawn upon," he said.
