The Assam Rifles arrests four NSCN terrorists in Nagaland

The Assam Rifles detained four militants from the NSCN (KNiki )'s Sumi group in Nagaland's Phek district on Thursday, July 29.

The NSCN is a Naga separatist organisation that operates in many northeast Indian states as well as Myanmar. It was founded on January 31, 1980, in response to the Naga National Council's (NNC) resistance to the Shillong Accord with the Union Government.

Following a tip-off, the Assam Rifles were able to seize firearms, cartridges, and other items from their possession with the cooperation of State police. "Arms and ammunition were confiscated from the insurgents' possession," the Assam Rifles informed the PTI news agency.

According to a statement released by the PRO of the inspector general of the paramilitary force on Thursday, a joint team of Assam Rifles and state police apprehended the four militants in the Pfutsero area and seized a 9mm pistol with nine cartridges, 64 extortion slips, and three mobile phones after acting on a tip.

The arrested individuals and seized materials were handed over to the Pfutsero police station for additional investigation, according to the statement.
