ULFA(I) chief Paresh Baruah has denied the organisation’s involvement within the Digboi grenade explosion incident. an individual identified as Sanjib Sen (25) was killed during a grenade explosion at the Tingrai market of Digboi within the Tinsukia district on Friday. Three persons were also injured within the blast that happened at around 1 PM.
Chief editor Syed Zarir Hussain over the phone, the ULFA(I) chief said, “This seems like a pre-planned work of a circle which can have the involvement of a rogue policeman or rogue army man. We don’t know why this is often being done. Maybe they're trying to point it towards us. Today’s incident happened just a couple of hours after our demands were sent to companies involved within the oil and gas sectors. Our demands were welcomed by people of Assam and immediate action was taken to defame us.”
“I believe someone from the military or police is involved in it to malign our image among the people. we've not given such orders to any of our trained boys and that we won't give such orders. Also, politically, it's going to be a handiwork to place pressure on the newly-formed government. The new government must determine who is behind it. I would like to inform the general public that ULFA(I) is neither connected to the Jagun grenade blast that took the life of a 12-year-old a couple of days ago and that we also are not involved in today’s incident,” confirmed Paresh Baruah.
